§ 78-128. Members' contributions.

  • (a)

    Each police officer member of the police officers' retirement system will have six percent of his salary contributed to the fund. Five percent of his salary will be paid by the city and one percent will be deducted, by the city, from his compensation and paid into the fund.

    (b)

    The officer responsible for preparing the payroll shall cause the contributions provided in this section to be deducted from the compensation of each member on each payroll, for each payroll period, so long as he remains a member. All contributions of each police officer member's salary, paid by the city and deducted from the police officer member's salary, will be paid to the fund within the bi-weekly period following the issuance of the payroll check. Every member shall be deemed to consent and agree to the deductions made and provided for in this section. Payment of his compensation less such contributions shall be a full and complete discharge and acquittance of all claims and demands whatsoever for the services rendered by him for the period covered by such payment, except as to benefits provided by the retirement system. The members' contributions provided in this section shall be made notwithstanding that the minimum compensation provided by law for any member shall be changed thereby.
