§ 62-51. Duties generally.

  • It shall be the duty of the chief of police to preserve the peace and to keep good order in the city; to make or direct the arrest of all persons charged with the violation of any of the ordinances of the city, or who may violate any ordinance in his presence or to his knowledge, and cause them to be brought before the county court judge for trial; to carry out the orders of the mayor and the city commission; to have general supervision over all other police officers; and generally to do and perform all duties and services that may be required of him by the ordinances of the city, the city commission or the mayor.
