§ 46-33. Enforcement; fire marshal; technical inspectors.

  • (a)

    The chief of the fire department shall be responsible for the enforcement of this article. The fire chief may detail qualified members of the fire department as inspectors as shall from time-to-time be necessary.

    (b)

    The chief of the fire department shall designate a fire official of the fire department as fire marshal. The fire marshal shall be responsible for the direct administration and enforcement of the fire safety code as may be set forth by the chief of the fire department. The fire marshal shall be appointed on the basis of examination or other method for determining qualifications.

    (c)

    The chief of the fire department may also designate such number of technical inspectors as shall from time-to-time be authorized by the city commission. Such technical inspectors shall be selected through an examination to determine their fitness for the position by the chief until someone else is qualified.
